The Shorinjiryu Kentokukan Karatedo karate school will be having its junior jamboree open to the public in the Sun Youth gymnasium on October 14th from 9am to 1pm. The price is $10 per person meals included. Discover this wonderful sport which promotes respect, tolerance and good will, self discovery and development.

The preparations are well under way for the Sun Youth Annual Model Train Show, a fundraiser for the organization's sports and recreation programs. Featuring dozens of exhibitors, vendors and fun activities for the whole family, the show features the largest collection in North America of model railroads. Trains can be bought and sold at the show, which provides ideas and stimulates the creative mind.

Unlike Hockey, hunger never stops! If you want to contribute to our food bank while enjoying a good caliber hockey game, be there for the 2017 LFA first interdivision Championship on August 27th 6pm at Arena Collège Notre-Dame, with a Tail Gate Party starting at 5pm. The game will oppose the South Shore division champions to the Montreal champions. You can buy a ticket to attend this game at www.lfahockey.com or make a donation HERE and enter in a contest with a chance to win prizes, including a pair of tickets for a Montreal Alouettes game in the GOLD section. Come out and have some fun!

On Tuesday and Wednesday August 15th and 16th, we will be distributing new clothing in adult sizes to people in need. People interested should present themselves at the Sun Youth building (4251, St. Urbain street), from 9 am to 3:00 pm, with a proof of income, a proof of address and a piece of ID for all family members.

You are invited to our annual Pasta Dinner, a fundraising event for our Bullying Prevention and Conflict Resolution Program on May 19th. The dinner will include pasta, salad, bread, drinks, dessert and raffles. Admission fees are $10 for adults, $6 for kids from 4 to 11 years old, while kids 3 and under eat for free.

These bicycles will be given to youths whose actions have had a positive impact on their community or who have shown extraordinary courage when facing exceptional circumstances. If you know of a young person in the Greater Montreal area, aged between 3 and 17 years, who has illustrated himself in that way, we want to know!

You are invited to celebrate Valentine's Day at the Robin des Bois restaurant, Wednesday February 15th 2017, as of 6pm. The profits of this heart warming event will go once again to our Heating Assistance Program. To create a more pleasant atmosphere for the evening there will also be live music and door prizes to win.

This year will be the 36th edition of our Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament, the oldest one in the province. It will be held from December 15th to the 18th. This holiday Classic allows very talented young players from Quebec, Ontario and the United-States to compete at a high level and gain exposure. So come out at the Nest in great numbers to support our team and see a great show.

The Shorinjiryu Kentokukan Karatedo karate school will hold its 12th Annual Kentokukan Fall Classic tournament on November 19 2016 from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at LaurenHill Academy Junior Campus, in Ville St-Laurent. The Kentokukan Fall Classic is open to all competitors between the age of 5 and 17 years.

Sun Youth's SLAP Hockey program is expanding and will now also take place at the Sportplexe in Pierrefonds. We are looking for equipment for kids in need, aged 5 to 11 years old. The Hockey Equipment Drive will be on October 8th from 9am to 12pm. Registrations for hockey introductory courses on October 22nd and 29th can be done by writing to kara@sunyouthorg.com.

Sun Youth will be distributing new clothing in adult sizes to people in need on Tuesday, August 16th and Wednesday, August 17th,  from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

People interested should present themselves at the Sun Youth Building (4251 St.Urbain Street) on these dates and bring a proof of income, i.d. and proof of address for each family member.

Training camp starts July 11th at 5:00PM at Jeanne Mance Park

For athletes aged 6-17 years old, In addition to the games of the regular season, youth participate in training camps and tournaments at local and national levels and sometimes international. Our athletes aged 13 to 18 years old may also use the supervised weight room.

All activities take place after school hours and during weekends, as academic success is more important than simply having fun. Our Sports and Recreation Program offers Football and Basketball at the amateur level. All our teams operate under the name of the Sun Youth Hornets. The uniforms are identified by a logo of a hornet, symbolizing the bite to team spirit and love of the sport. The equipment is supplied, with the exception of shoes. Membership fees vary according to the activities and family income.

Come out to this year’s annual Senior Club bazaar on June 10th held in the Sun Youth’s main buildings gymnasium. There will be both new and used items including household accessories, bedding, glassware, clothing and shoes. The Seniors Club is self-funded. A 5$ annual registration fee is requested. Members themselves organize fundraising events so that the club membership fees as well as fees for cultural and recreational outings are kept as low as possible.

The Sun Youth Seniors Club offers a variety of activities to help maintain or improve the health and overall well-being of seniors. The activities may be held on a daily, weekly or seasonal basis. Weekly activities include bingo (recreational), bowling, knitting sessions and exercise programs. Cultural and leisure outings include apple picking, shopping and trips to the sugar shack.

Be there for the Ligue Fédérale des As (a leader in adult ice hockey in Quebec) 2015-2016 season's grand finale. The event will take place May 1st starting at 5PM with a tailgate party at College Notre-Dame Arena. All proceeds of the game will go to the Sun Youth Food Bank to help out the less fortunate in the community. It's the only cup you will see this Spring in Montreal.banniere anglais.jpg

Sun Youth’s traditional annual new clothing giveaway for low-income families will he held on next Tuesday and Wednesday, August 11th and 12th between 9:30 am and 3 pm. With the new school beginning, increased expenses impose additional hardship for needy families in Montreal. Sun Youth’s free clothing distribution in adult sizes is intended for them.
