Sun YouthOrganization has played an integral role in the development of young amateurathletes in Montreal since the late 1950's From the early days when Earl De La
Perralle (co-founder of Sun Youth Organization with Sid Stevens) and his peers
participated in local Hockey and Baseball Leagues run by the City of Montreal
to being one of the founding members of the Montreal Basketball league, the
organization has grown tremendously to the point of having over 700 active
athletes members competing in various sports and levels. Sun Youth has always believed that the best way to serve society is to develop the minds and bodies of the clients we serve....the children. We believe in the philosophy “a healthy mind in a healthy body”, and for this reason, we invite all young people to come and enjoy themselves. We presently compete in 4 major sports Basketball, Football, Hockey and Ringuette. We call ourselves the Sun Youth Hornets. A
feisty hornet logo on our jerseys symbolizes grace, the team’s powerful sting and the buzz for the sport. The sports are open to all children regardless of financial, ethnic or social backgrounds. While there are fees for participating in our sports teams
no child is ever refused participation once they succeed in making a team.
Uniforms and specialized equipment are provided for the athletes at no
additional cost. Membership fees are based on the
choice of sport. However, these fees mayalso be adjusted The focus of our Sports Department is the athletes. We work on giving each one of them the skills and tools needed to succeed at their present level and in the future both on and off the playing fields. Our study hall is open from September to June with the possibility of having specialized tutors attend to the athlete’s specific needs. Our weightroom facilities are accessible to our athletes in order to help them develop their physical attributes. Our large Wall of Fame where many of our former athletes have their name and picture is a tribute to our original commitment of sports achievement and academic success. Following is a list of the age groups for our
