Growing in popularity each year, cycling has been important to us since the 1950’s. We give Montrealers hundreds of new and recycled bicycles through our yearly distributions.
Avi Morrow new bicycle distribution
New bicycles are distributed to young people whose actions have had a positive influence in their community or who have shown exceptional courage in difficult situations. Each year, we give out between 70 to 100 new bicycles, helmets and locks to these extraordinary young people. Since 1984, our distribution of new bicycles has been made possible thanks to Avi Morrow, who remained anonymous for 35 years and was known as “Mr. Bike Man”. Sadly, the Bike Man is no more. Before his passing, Avi Morrow made arrangements so that the Annual Bike Giveaway would continue for years to come.
This program is aimed at children aged between 3 and 17 years old coming from the Greater Montreal area. To submit the name of a child for this year, fill up the online application below (fields marked with an asterisk are required). Please note that names of candidates can be submitted no later than March 31, 2019 and that no application will be considered after that date.
Recycled bicycle distribution
Throughout the year, we receive recycled bicycles from individuals or from companies who organize bicycles drives to our benefit. The bikes are repaired and delivered in good condition by us to families. Children get to choose their own bike and can enjoy family outings and other activities throughout the summer. About 500 bikes are collected each year and more than 90% can be repaired and distributed.
